What an HR specialist does

HR specialists help an organization hire, support and keep its people. The work includes recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance reviews, pay and benefits, and making sure the organization follows labor law.

Some HR specialists cover all of this. Others focus on one area, such as recruitment or training.

The skills that matter

HR is about people. You need to listen well, explain policies clearly, handle conflict calmly and keep information confidential.

You also need to be organized and comfortable with records, data and rules. Knowing Lebanon's labor law and how employment contracts work helps you advise managers with confidence.

Getting your first HR experience

Many people start in HR administration, in recruitment support or as an HR assistant. Others move into HR from office management, customer service or a team lead role.

If you already have a job, offer to help with hiring, onboarding or training. It is a good way to build experience before you change roles.

Where the SHRM-CP fits

The SHRM-CP comes from SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management. It is a certification for HR professionals in day-to-day roles, and its exam tests both HR knowledge and how you would handle real workplace situations.

SHRM sets its own eligibility and recertification rules and has changed them over time, so check the SHRM website before you plan.

Where to start

Our Human Resources course builds a foundation for the SHRM-CP. It covers talent acquisition, employee relations, performance evaluation, compensation and benefits, labor legislation and organizational behavior.

Our Communication Skills and Customer Service course builds the listening, conflict resolution and relationship skills that HR work depends on. Read our SHRM-CP page, then message us on WhatsApp to talk about your next step.
